What a weird season of Big Brother as it seems either people are getting way more creative or relying on AI to make pure fake stories in order to generate some cheap clicks, but I haven’t seen anything like this in a while.
Just this morning, I saw another fake story online of an ‘issue’ fans had with Mickey’s treatment over Katherine. Here is the post
Now, I immediately had to look into that. I mean a change.org petition? Hashtags trending? The show being canceled?? Mickey may destroy our beloved guilty pleasure?
False
Let’s address claims:
- Change.org Petition – I searched their site for any petition on Big Brother and the only I found was one on trying to bring Big Brother Canada back. Something that only got 11.8k signatures.
Verdict: Fake - Katherine’s Panic Attack & Mickey Mocking – I watched the feeds all summer. And sure, I may have missed some times, but I’m pretty sure I would have remembered this. However, I didn’t see Katherine having any panic attack,s nor did I see Mickey mocking her at any point this season over anything.
Verdict: 95% Fake (missing 5% because I haven’t seen every second of feeds) - Trending Hashtags – I clicked through the article, and it said there were two hashtags trending. #BoycottBigBrother and #JusticeForKatherine. While there were hashtags for those, there were only a handful of posts. The boycott one was a handful of people, and one was a joke if Morgan leaves (like every show has). JusticeForKatherine also had a few posts, but none were Big Brother related
Verdict: Fake
Very creative story, but this one is just pure BS created by someone with an imagination.
Let’s move on….
Fake Conversation
Here we have a juicy one. As the talk picked up between the oddly close relationship between the pair, so did the fake stories. Now, it’s absolutely true that the two have crossed boundaries that have made Vince’s girlfriend at home clearly uncomfortable. We don’t have exact statements, but she has mentioned she did not give any OK to flirt as a strategy. That’s fair and understandable.
The problem here is that while the two are close, I don’t actually see them flirt. They are absolutely touchy and hug for longer than normal. Even Ashley has noticed it and felt weird about it. But neither ever drops compliments or does the typical showmance stuff. They look like two best friends.
Now, I am not defending Vince for it. When I say ‘best friends’, I mean best friends who are in the stage of movies where they have feelings for each other but are forced to keep it friends for whatever reason. Like you can tell, they have a bit stronger connection than you would with your other friends, but still, no actual flirting I have noticed.
As far as the actual conversation in the image, that was pure BS. Someone posted a screenshot of earlier in the season where Vince and KELLEY had the same conversation and they decided to turn it into Vince and Morgan. Regarding the Kelley one, that was an absolutely tongue in cheek joke, and those two have never flirted at all.
Verdict: Conversation – 100% False | Flirting – More true than false. (MANY would call what they do as flirting, even though they don’t actually say flirting words. )
Lawyering Up
More with the Vince and Morgan situation, but this time with another story. This time, they are pretending that Vince’s girlfriend is so angry that she contacted CBS with lawyers and threatened to sue if they didn’t kick Vince off the show.
As stated above, the two (Vince and Morgan) are far closer than most would expect, and it is absolutely likely that his girlfriend isn’t a fan of it. However, there is no proof that she ‘lawyered up’ and tried to get him kicked from the show. How do I know? Because there is no legal grounds to stand on so no lawyer would actually take this case unless they were looking to just steal money.
Even if Vince had a full-blown affair (he didn’t), there is nothing in the rules that say he can’t.
Verdict: His girlfriend calling lawyers – False
Rylie, Rylie, and more Rylie
Now, I couldn’t add a post like this and not include Rylie. I mean the season started off with an alleged baby momma dropping in our facebook comments to say she’s pregnant with his kid as he heads off into the show.
Things only got worse when Rylie grew very attached to Katherine, and fans immediately thought Katherine was uncomfortable with his aggressive love for her. This is largely because she was very apprehensive at first and often just answered him with ‘yup’, ‘yup’, etc. As the show progressed, we learned that Katherine is just a very guarded person, but actually did have feelings for Rylie. And according to her, those feelings were just as strong for him as he had for her.
However, it got worse when Katherine’s father and stepmother started going to the press about how they don’t like that relationship, and the mother admitted to contacting CBS over it as they felt she was in danger. They also said that Katherine isn’t ready to be a step-mother, but the problem is, other than the rumored child, I don’t think Rylie has any other kids (not 100% on that). I’ve seen pictures of him with his nephew or some other relative, perhaps that’s what they saw too? And her step-mother also said that Rylie was ‘like 34’ when he’s actually 27. Big difference between the two.
Rylie’s mother naturally defended him and said he was passionate and caring and all the typical stuff a mother would say about her kid.
Oh, and his ‘criminal history’ was also dug up as a way to smear him further and make him sound like a dangerous person. He did appear to have driven drunk once (absolutely a bad thing), but any other time he was in trouble was due to that, and typically driving with a suspended license. His mugshot circulated, again to imply he was a dangerous person, but none of that is the case. There is no known history of violence in his records.
So, let’s summarize the Rylie rumors:
- Baby on the way – This one is possibly true, but unconfirmed. Someone did reach out to me privately with more information on it, but it was ‘friend of a friend’ situation, and no further proof was given.
- Criminal Record – This one is easily flagged as misleading. Misleading because it was brought up to imply he is a dangerous person, but his criminal history is all related to driving violations.
- Other Kids – More unconfirmed. Admittedly, I probably could have delved deeper into this one, but honestly, I didn’t because it’s really just irrelevant. It doesn’t matter if he does have a kid and if he does, that’s between him, Katherine, and those in that circle.
- Katherine was scared / uncomfortable – This one is definitely false, as she has said so herself.
I hope this clears up any rumors. I will make another if I see more fake news pop up.
