Big Brother 27-Recap for Thursday, July 17th

The first eviction is in the books and it was a fun one. I love what the Blockbuster comp and AI Arena last season is doing for the show. We still get to have an element of suspense on eviction night. If they keep it, I just hope they settle on a permanent name for it, like how the veto is always the veto. I don’t have anything else to mention so I’m just gonna jump right into yesterday….
Thursday Daytime Feeds:
Rachel filled Jimmy in on her fight with Zae from the night before. Apparently he was in bed, but hated he missed it. He told her their backs hurt from carrying the season. (Jimmy can be annoying but this was just a joke)

There wasn’t much to cover from during the day yesterday except more vote confirming talks. Lauren told Zae and Kelley she was voting to keep Amy. She said it was because they didn’t have the votes to stay.

Kelley worked on Ava and Lauren by telling them both the “girls” on the other side of the house were trying to use manipulation on them. She also went off about how so called “girls, girls” weren’t really girls, girls if they were trying to evict her. She said she planned to call out Rachel about it in her speech.

Ok, I can appreciate her spunk except it was really misguided. How does keeping Amy over Kelley not make you a girls, girls? They’re both women and they also wanted to evict Zae over Amy or Kelley too. On top of that, why call out Rachel? She didn’t make the noms, she wasn’t on the block, and she damn sure didn’t volunteer for the block. Kelley went on to say it wasn’t fair Rachel was allowed to come back. (She really knows nothing about this show, lol)
Ava REALLY wanted to evict Kelley.

Vince and Zae went over the votes together too. (The first hoh can be such a great advantage and Vince really blew it. He may escape the week and be ok but he didnt really move himself ahead very much.) They seemed to worry alot more about the votes with Amy vs Kelley because I don’t think it occurred any of those guys that Zae might actually lose the Blockbuster comp.

Unrelated but I’d hate these beds. I guess I never realized the mattresses they use are about the thickness of dorm room mattresses or prisons:

Thursday Episode:
What the hell is this outfit? Anyone know? I’d actually forgotten how bad Rachels taste is in clothing.

The blockbuster comp was cool but hard to play along with as a viewer. By the time it was over, I had only gotten the word “with.”

Kelley didn’t have the problem I did because she won it pretty quickly. I laughed at her pose as she waited for confirmation that she’d won.

i can also respect her wanting to put that crown on her head. She knew she’d really screwed up by volunteering for the block and this win saved her ass this week! I gotta give it to her, she pulled it out!

I kind of wanted Kelley evicted since she volunteered for the block. (I enjoy seeing bad gameplay punished) I also wasn’t disappointed she stayed. She’s a little out there so I want to see what she’ll do next.
The best part of her winning was her excitement and basically giving an award show speech during the live show. Haha

Zae gave a decent attempt to stay with his speech but it wasn’t enough to work. I know he thought he was doing something by saying he’d go after Rachel in the speech. I actually think that strategy works better when it’s in private conversations. The way he put it, it was going to make a vote for him to stay a direct way of saying they’re against Rachel. Most of them want to quietly work on taking her out of the game vs declaring an open war.
Rachel definitely didn’t like his speech tho. Haha

The way some of them talk about Rachel as a gamer has been funny to me. It’s not a coincidence these opinions of her being some strategic mastermind are coming from the players who don’t know the show. Rachel was good at comps, not strategy. She even knows that and was talking about it yesterday.

She mentioned in her previous seasons, she was either on the block or she was HOH. She didn’t admit she’s a bad strategic player tho, that’s my opinion. If nothing else, she knows how to play her role. She makes good conflict tv and was a good competitor. (Maybe she still is, time will tell)

Anyway, it doesn’t matter because she got her way this week and Amy stayed. It’s great for Rachel that she stayed but I don’t think it’s some game deciding decision that some do. Sure, Amy’s another number but Rachel has other numbers. (For now) Amy’s said herself she’s worried about her comp abilities so I don’t think Amy staying is somehow going to win Rachel the game in week 1.

Zae was evicted and Zach took it really hard. I don’t know if he’d gotten that close to Zae in the past 10 days or so or if it was the shock of Zae losing a comp to one of the women. (Zach’s repeatedly called Amy a floater and says she’s useless. Yeah, I know Amy didn’t win the comp but Zach seems to think that about most of the women in the house.) I wonder if he started realizing the guys may not actually win every comp and wipe out all the women this season after all.

As for the votes, there were a few surprises. I’m guessing Katherine got Rylie to vote for Amy to stay. She may have convinced him to vote with the majority and said Amy had the votes anyway. I know that’s the approach she used when she talked to Lauren. I was still surprised since Rylie told Adrian he was voting to keep Zae, even if he was the only one who did.
Amy in red:

I was also surprised (just a little) that Will voted to keep Zae. He’d told Ava and Mickey he’d keep Amy. He also mouthed “I’ve got you” to Rachel right before the vote. I get it tho, he’s in the burger bros or whatever it’s called. He needed to cover himself with them. Even tho Mickey wasn’t successful with Will, (she was supposed to lock in his vote) she did alot to secure Katherine’s vote. The women definitely ran the house this week. Rachel, Morgan and Mickey put in a ton of work to not only keep Amy, but also to take out Zae.

Thursday Night Live Feeds:
The HOH comp may have been the black box or something similar. Some of the players won powers or advantages too. Here’s what we know…Jimmy won the HOH comp.

He read everyone his letter which was from his sister.

Rylie and Ava were visibly bored with Jimmy’s hoh room reveal and letter. Rylie also chews his nails and spits them everywhere. Not sure why I think everyone needs to know that, but I do.

I think the have nots are Rachel, Amy, Mickey and I don’t know the 4th. (Not that anyone really cares anymore) There was some complaining about it only because they’ve been low on food the past couple of days. Good news for the rest of them though, the pantry got restocked.

As of now, Jimmy is planning to put Keanu, Kelley and Adrian on the block. He said he’s putting up Kelley because she’d planned to target Rachel. (I’m guessing he was going to do it anyway, but was just trying to score some points with Rachel)
Jimmys triplet baby picture:

Rachel also found out people knew Zae was gonna call her out in his speech but didn’t warn her.

Adrian may be at a bigger disadvantage going otb with them because both Keanu and Kelley won something. This is Kelley jumping on Vince from behind last night. I think between winning the blockbuster comp and the potential to earn a power, she was pretty hyped.

Keanu has a 2nd chance to win a veto if he’s on the block. It sounds like Kelley’s is similar but she has to “earn” it. (Don’t hold me to this because some of the details are still unclear) There’s also some speculation that Will got something, but I don’t think he did.

Kelley also told Jimmy about hers and maybe other people too. I don’t see her telling Jimmy but not her allies.

Mickey won the ability to take over someone’s HOH. (I hate this advantage, it’s too big) She told Morgan but said she wasn’t telling anyone else. They also discussed when it would be the right time to target Rachel. (They’re playing nice but they don’t have any intention of letting her get to the end)

People are lying about their votes because Keanu told Jimmy he voted to keep Amy. Rylie told Keanu (and probanly Zach) he kept Zae. Keanu thinks Will voted out Zae, not knowing it was Rylie. I don’t know if this is going to turn into anything this week but it could. They were still trying to figure it out and think Keanu is lying.

Jimmy told Keanu he may put him otb but said he’s not the target. (He is the target) He asked Keanu who he would put up if he had won and Keanu, said probably Ashley, Amy and Rachel. He said Rachel’s been different around him since the argument with Zae. (Ya think?)

Look, I’m not a Rachel fan but she’s not in the wrong on this one. She DID put in work to keep Keanu off the block, no matter what Vince is saying now. She was telling him the truth when she warned him. Zae DID say the stuff about targeting Keanu and Rachel gave him that info too. I think she actually wanted to work with him and that’s why she steered Vince away from putting him otb.
Memory wall:

Keanu also told Jimmy about Kelley’s power. (I don’t know what they are, I’m just calling them powers for now) It didn’t matter because she told him too. Zach also told Jimmy that Keanu had a power. To sum it up, the heavy hitters are back in business now that Jimmy is the hoh. Suddenly, Zach doesn’t want there to be “sides.” Haha

There was more game talk up in the hoh room. Jimmy said Keanu is actually his target this week. Rachel worried one of the powers might be able to take over the hoh. Morgan said she didn’t think that would be one of them, all while knowing it IS one of them.

There must have been mention of there being clues around the house during the comp. Rachel brought in the evidence bags from the have not room because they thought that could be something. She and Jimmy also found the timer Amy set during the first night in the house.

I think the black hoh robes are my favorite:

We’ll have noms later today so stay tuned and have a great weekend!
