Big Brother 28-Premiere Recap

Welcome back Big Brother Junkies for season 28! We’ve got a returning BB player, a Survivor player, (with a 2nd possibly on the way) a bunch of newbies and a time travel theme this season. Here’s hoping for a fun season!
I liked Julie’s look last night…from the waist up:

I have a mixed opinion on last nights premiere but some of the house guests look promising, at least for our entertainment. I won’t go through the whole cast because Steve’s already done that and it’s too soon for me to have any solid opinions anyway. As for my immediate reactions to the players, this is all I have so far…

Barrett seems like he has potential. He knows the show and has even podcasted about it. He also said Angela is one of his favorite players so will they work together or will Angela be paranoid again and turn on him if he tries? I also thought Jason had potential since he’s done two seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race and is good friends with Franke Grande. (He also tried to do RuPaul’s Drag Race with an alliance. It didn’t work but he may have the right mindset for this game) I walked that back a bit after I saw him say Devens couldn’t be trusted to Lyric last night. Saying that about one of only a few people who can be HOH this week isn’t very smart. The same thing goes for LaTrice. (I think she’s great!) I don’t think she should have been announcing that Angela needs to go to other people just yet.
Not only do I think it’s a bad idea to announce it when she could be the first hoh, I also think it’s the wrong strategy. As one of the older people on the cast, she should be wanting to keep anyone else who is older around. When they start wanting to pick off the older people, she could shove Angela straight to the front of the line.
I worry Lyric may only be on the show to get more of a following. (time will tell and I’m sure she’s not the only one) She’s been on American Idol and talks alot about her dad being a 1 hit Wonder in the 80’s on Tik Tok. (I found the song and was surprised that I’d actually heard it before) Drew is young but he’s been on Beast Games and done another online game that I can’t remember at the moment. We were getting indications that he was annoying people already but there could be more to him as a gamer than we know. As for Mallory, I think she may have leaned into the smart nerdy thing only to get cast. Her social accounts seem nothing like her intro package. She doesn’t come off nerdy at all and there were no glasses to be seen on her Instagram. Melody reminds me of Katherine 2.0. Haley seems boring but we rarely have anyone from Missouri so I’ll root for her a little for now. It’s obvious we have quite a few players pretending to be fans of the show who had never seen it before being cast so basically, the usual.
As for Angela being back, I know some of you aren’t happy about it. If she acts like she did on her previous season, she’ll probably be targeted early. You could have that to look forward to or she may have learned some things and be less annoying this season. I’m just trying to give all the Angela haters something to be positive about while she’s in the house. Truthfully, I don’t know how much she’s learned because she seemed thrilled that Rachel wasn’t actually going to play the game. Similar to my opinion on LaTrice’s strategy, I think Angela was wrong. I think it would have been great for Angela if Rachel was in the game. She would be a great target in front of her.

It doesn’t matter anyway because Rachel’s not playing. I also don’t understand the point of Rachel being there last night. It seemed like a waste of premiere time to me. I don’t know why they’re saving the final house guest reveal for tonight. I mean, yes I know. They’re trying to build momentum for BB Unlocked. Obviously, they want some crossover viewership from the Survivor fans who don’t normally watch Big Brother. I think all they may have accomplished was to piss off some viewers last night. Think about it, if you’re a big Rachel fan and she shows up only to die in a volcano, are you a happy with production today? On top of that, how receptive are those same people going to be to see Dee from Survivor (if she comes in the game tonight) enter the game? People who could have been neutral about her may now feel like she took Rachel’s spot. I know that isn’t rational thinking but since when are BB fans rational?

Possible Spoiler Below:
Although it hasn’t officially been confirmed by CBS, I’m expecting Dee from Survivor to enter the game tonight. The date Julie transported to last night before the show ended is the date of the Survivor finale the season Dee won it. On top of that, Hamsterwatch posted that Dee won the first HOH comp. I can definitely see it if her only competition was Angela and Rick Devins. (I have to figure out if we’re referring to him as Devins or Rick this season) I also think having only Angela and the two Survivor players compete for HOH is screaming friendship bracelets!
As for other things, I think the dinosaur and volcano set up was completely juvenile and stupid. I also think that quite often the first two episodes of Big Brother are the cringiest of the season so there’s hope it won’t get worse.
Mickey Lee (1990-2025) on CBS Atlanta broadcast with TV-PG rating displayed.">
I was glad to see a remembering Mickey moment but if you blinked, you missed it. We also got a glimpse of Jeff Probst which was different and Enzo made an appearance too. (I don’t have anything to say on that because the show cut out for a weather alert which last over 20 minutes, I missed some things)

We also know the BB Blockbuster is back and I’m happy about it as long as it doesn’t go too far into the season. Jason, Rome and Chuk have safety for the week.

That’s it for me. There isn’t much to talk about yet since we don’t get feeds until tonight. Honestly, my post this morning is mostly me seeing if I can navigate the new things Steve has accomplished on the site during the off season. I plan to post my recaps on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays again with the occasional extra post when things are heating up. I can’t wait to get this season going and chat it up with all of you again. Have a great weekend watching the feeds!
